The Layout
I have scaled down the equipment in the studio. I am not just using the room as a recording / practice space, but I have been working from home so I do most of my web development work here as well.
My new Office needs more desk space and less drum sets and mic stands to trip over.
I took this opportunity to rewire and stream line my Protools rig.
My objective is:
- Everything works. Nothing rigged, duct tapped, Pc cases open, noisy cables, precariously balanced or stack on phone books. If I don’t use it it’s gone.
- Improve friendly. turnkey.. record in the mood without big setup issues.
- Flexible. Record, Live performance, Party time.
- Clean everything in its place and a place for everything.
- More desk space for work.
- All media should be available to play in the house via PS3 Media Server.
This is complicated so I thought I would go in stages and from Output to input.
First Speakers. I have Near field Monitors, Large Format monitors, Portable monitors, outside stereo speakers, and Headphones.
Like I said in 1 & 3 these have to work for all situations.
